L’exposition Giacometti-Picasso aura lieu au Fire Station à Doha du 23 février au 21 mai 2017.
Une première au Moyen Orient
Qatar Museums réunit pour la première fois au Moyen-Orient les œuvres de Pablo Picasso et Alberto Giacometti. Cette expo met en lumière les relations iconographiques qu’ont entretenu ces deux artistes majeurs du 20e siècle. Si Picasso, né en Espagne en 1881, aimait représenter les formes rondes et charnues, Giacometti, lui né en Suisse en 1901, retravaillera les même thèmes avec des formes creuses et chétives, à la limite de la vie.

Qatar Museums, under the patronage of its Chairperson HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al-Thani, in collaboration with the Musee national Picasso and the Fondation Giacometti, will organize an exhibition dedicated to the works of Pablo Picasso and Alberto Giacometti from February 23 to May 21.
The exhibition, which is the first to show these artists in the Middle East, will be held at the Fire Station – Artist in Residence in Doha, Qatar Museums said in a press release.
This major exhibition, curated by Catherine Grenier, director of the Fondation Giacometti, brings together more than 120 works by these two artists drawn from the collections of the Musee national Picasso and the Fondation Giacometti in Paris, as well as exceptional loans from French and other international collections, covering paintings, sculptures, sketches, photographs and interviews with the artists.
The exhibition reflects two years of research undertaken by the Fondation Giacometti and the Musee national Picasso, which reveals for the first time the previously unknown relationship between these two artists, who, despite an age gap of twenty years, shared many moments, both personal and professional.
